MACC Pantry Sees High Numbers

Dec 16, 2025

Community members lined up to receive free vegetables, eggs and other items provided by donations, local grocery stores and the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Volunteers said Friday’s line for the pantry was much longer than usual, as many prepare to lose SNAP benefits next month.

“I think it’s very relevant this time of year, always, but especially with the uncertainty of food benefits and things right now. Our neighbors are really worried about what will come in the next month, and for them to have food on their shelves for when their kids come home from school or families through the colder months is very essential,” said Katie Confer, director of marketing for the Mercy Center for Women.
