Ellen DiPlacido

Ellen DiPlacido’s mark on Erie can be seen quite literally through the gardens she has helped install around the Erie community. She is a Master Gardener and works with coordinating the Emmaus Grove, which provides produce for the kitchen and pantry. In addition, she works with the Bayfront East Side Task Force community garden, the Diehl Elementary school garden, and helps to coordinate the Women Empowered group at the Mercy Center for Women. She is inspired to continue her work because, “It helps me. It makes me feel good. I was in education and social work my entire life. I like getting out and being outside and I like communicating with different people and helping them move forward.” DiPlacido is inspired by the Mercy Center for Women because she, “loves to see people helping other people.”

Congratulations, Ellen!
