Erie Gives 2023

In 2023, the Mercy Center for Women DOUBLED its capacity to house those who previously experienced homelessness

How? By taking an abandoned 39,000-square-foot school complex and renovating it into apartments and space for community partners to deliver services.

With the addition of the Mercy Anchor Community Center on our campus, the Mercy Center is now able to house 64 men, women and children. Both residents and the entire Erie community are able to take advantage of GED and computer classes, a food pantry, primary health care services, AA and NA meetings and more, all under one roof.

What better time to continue tackling homelessness in the Erie community than by taking part in The Erie Community Foundation's Erie Gives Day 2023, Aug. 8th.

Donate to the Mercy Center for Women on Tues., Aug. 8th between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM (EST) by going online at ErieGives. Your gift must be at least $25. Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards will be accepted. If you prefer to donate by check or make a gift of stock or IRA via email, please see the Other Ways to Give section below.

Why give on Erie Gives Day? Because The Erie Community Foundation and its sponsors will enhance donors’ gifts by providing a prorated match to each gift, so your donation to the Mercy Center for Women will go even further if made on this day.

Should you choose to donate to the Mercy Center for Women, you will receive an email receipt of your gift, which you should retain for tax purposes. Unless you choose to remain anonymous, your donor information will be sent to the Mercy Center for Women.

Gift of Stock or IRA via Mail

  • Deadline to initiate the transfer of stock or IRA distribution with your custodian directed to The Erie Community Foundation is Monday, August 7, 2023
  • Complete the Check Donation Form (will be available at ECF starting June 8) indicating the organization(s) and donation amount(s)
  • Mail check and form to The Erie Community Foundation, 459 West 6th Street, Erie, PA 16507
  • The transfer of stock or distribution from your IRA should match the total amount you indicate on your mail-in form
